Union Matters

Our Labor and Employment attorneys at Roetzel work with in-house counsel and human resource departments to address the scope of issues and matters that arise in connection with unions, ranging from organizing activities through contract negotiation and application. We work cooperatively with employers to address the many unique union-related issues they may face.
Our team of attorneys works closely with non-union companies on strategies to avoid unionization. If a union organizing effort does occur, we assist with the campaign and election process. We also regularly assist employers with the negotiation of initial or replacement collective bargaining agreements, serving as either the chief spokesperson for the employer or as a resource to the employer's negotiating team. Our attorneys regularly represent private employers in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and public employers in proceedings before the State Employment Relations Board. We also frequently represent employers in employee grievance and arbitration proceedings.
Many of our attorneys who handle union matters are Ohio State Bar Association board certified specialists in Employment and Labor Law. Our vast knowledge in this area, including our extensive experience working with administrative agencies and many labor unions, allows us to provide efficient and cost-effective representation to our clients.
